In the beginning, The Plaza served as a residence for wealthy New Yorkers and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt were the first couple to sign the register. Initially, it cost $12.5 million to construct it, and a room was only $2.50 as compared to the same room costing $3,750.00 today. A $400 million renovation completed in 2008 transformed the landmark hotel into a true five star again. Presidents, kings, ambassadors, stars of screen, sports and stage, business executives, and travelers from all over the world have gathered and stayed at this famous hotel.
The Plaza Hotel is a 20 story luxury hotel with a length of 120m and height of 76m, that occupies the west side of Grand Army Plaza, with Fifth Avenue on the east side of Grand Army Plaza, from which Plaza Hotel derives it name. The hotel extends along Central Park South in Manhattan and offers its guests and residencies many services. The various service are- baby-sitting and concierges, a shopping mall, a butler on every floor, a gymnasium managed by world-renowned trainer.
